DEMOCRACY: Re; Democratic Process
George Sassoon asks: "Who was it that said something like "democracy is the best of a bad bunch"? But it clearly it doesn't work in some societies, e.g. Iraq, as we are learning to our cost".
This is a fundamental point. Even in Western societies it is not easy. In Spain in 1931 almost everyone happily assumed that democracy had finally triumphed. The Civil War disillusioned them. Now it seems that Spain had found as form of democracy which works. What about Cuba?
