Women of the world, unite!

Helen McPenrod questions my statement: "Here we see the contrast I noted between female idealism and male realism."

She says: "The older I get, the less impressed with male "realism" I become. Women seem to bear boy babies so that they can grow up to be destroyed by male fighting, usually over an EGO-inspired vision. In their souls, women seem to be much more about COMMUNITY; men seem to be fundamentally about EGO."

My comment: I agree. When I watch children playing, the girls are cooperating, the boys are fighting. However, women have their ego, but of a different nature. Men can learn to cooperate, although that statement might be doubted in view of university faculties, where the scientists cooperate much better than the "humanists." Soccer should teach young men to cooperate (in the interests of organized aggression!)

Feminists, beware! We males are fighting back. John Wonder writes:

"Re male realism and feminine idealism, one must define the terms. If men fight physically, they are dealing with a real physical situation quite apart from the question of how they got to such a point, which may have been an idealistic urge. As in language, it is all a question of context."

My comment: Very appropriate, as men try to help the people of Kosovo. The Economist (3/13-19, 1999) ran a survey of recent feminist books. They do not speak with one voice. Was the title "Feminism is motherhood" an expression of the trend, or simply of male chauvinism?
