Women of the World, UNITE!! Beijing Declaration

The Fourth World Conference on Women met in Beijing in September 1995 and issued the Beijing Declaration, which now appears as Part One of a book issued by the UN entitled Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, with the Beijing+5 Political Declaration and Outcome Document (2001, pp.242). Boutros Boutros-Ghali who was secretary-general of the UN, wrote the foreword. Koki Annan, who succeeded him, wrote the foreword to the final section, devoted to Beijing+5, summarizing the discussions held during the five years following the conference. By far the longest section is Chapter Four of Part II, entitled "Strategic Objectives and Actions". Naturally specific countries are not mentioned, but it will be interesting to see how various countries heed the recommendations. Ar for the Muslim countries, little probably.
