IRAN and the US

We are all wondering what the US will do about Iran. Yesterday Donald Rumsfeld and General Tommy Franks appeared before a senate committee. The threat from Iran was discussed. Iranian exiles had reported that there was a hitherto unknown nuclear site in Iran. It was admitted that the report about Iraq's trying to acquire uranium in Niger was bogus, but the exiles' report was not questioned. Rumsfeld said that Iran's new nuclear plant, which Iran defends on the grounds that it needs the energy, will in fact produce less energy than could be obtained from the natural gas Iran burns off. Iran was charged with moving border posts along the boundary with Iraq, thus annexing Iraqi territory. All in all, the testimony did not improve US-Iran relations.
