Regarding British interest in Iraq as a source of oil for the Royal Navy, I asked "When did warships stop using coal? How many of the US ships now in the Persian Gulf are nuclear-powered?" Harry Papasotiriou answers "In the Royal Navy ships switched from coal to oil when Churchill was First Lord of the Admiralty in the years just before the First World War". That was what I thought. What about nuclear-powered vessels? This takes us back to our discussion of fission and fusion.
