Re: Was Christopher Columbus Jewish?
We have posted conflicting theories about the ethnicity of Christopher Columbus. Christopher Jones says: "I can really answer with Cameron's favorite "so what?" Who cares if Colon was spelled with an "m" which would have meant that his name was "pigeon" in catalan or an "n".Colon was Colon and he wasn't Jewish, He was an Italian from Genoa. The Duce said so. Period".
RH:
The Duce did indeed settle the argument by diltat. However, it should be clear that all the trouble is due to the left-wing liberals teaching in our schools. It should be clear to any good American that Columbus was born in Columbus, Ohio, and took the name of his birthplace. Anyone saying otherwise will be denounced to the commission President Bush has established to make sure that history teachers support his administration.I said: " The various theses about Columbus are based on conflicting documents. The argument could perhaps be settled by DNA tests. There is an argument as to whether the remains are of Columbus are in Spain or Santo Domingo. Let us assume they are in Spain".
John Heelan comments: "Discussing this problem, standing before Columbus' tomb in Seville Cathedral in March this year, a Spanish academic suggested to me that parts of Columbus' body were scattered around the world and that such a DNA project was being funded (by whom I do not know) to detect the truth or otherwise of the claims. Does any WAISer have knowledge of such a project?
