Freedom of the Press Day

     Today, May 3, is the international Freedom of the Press Day. At a time when the press, to which WAIS attributes singular importance, is the target of largely unjustified criticisms, we wish to express our support of it and our sorrow at the many journalists who have lost their lives. notably in Colombia. Those of us who are Hispanists feel a special solidarity with the Spanish journalists threatened by the Basque ETA terrorists.
