MEXICO: Presidential Elections--Vincente Fox

Ana María León of PAN writes:

"I agree with David Crow's report on Mexican elections. Of course, as a PANista, I am absolutely delighted with Fox's victory, but also as a Mexican, because these elections close the large and difficult process of transition to democracy of our country.

The day after the elections, Fox met with President Zedillo, and they agreed on working together the next five months (as Fox will assume power on December 1st.) so as to complete transition in a smooth way. As you may know, markets reacted to Fox's triumph positively, and even public opinion leaders who were against him during his campaign are now praising his inclusive attitude towards members of other political parties."
