Trade

A basic problem is to get our facts straight. I wondered why the international financial ranking of Mexico had continued to rise in view of the country´s problems. This morning, Mexican TV spoke excitedly of the Mexican tiger: Mexico has jumped from 20th to 6th place in international trade. I know a number of Stanford students who are planning to ride this tiger. Now Tom Marks forwards me a long AP (5/9) story which leaves me wondering. Was the tiger born in the maquiladoras along the US border? Pat Buchanan would like to know. The story is headlined: "Sony warns crime could drive investment from Mexico."
