Mexican Trucks

In response to my request for the hard facts about Mexican trucks at the U.S. border, Jaqui White, who lives close to it, sends this message describing the problems: "We had a devastating accident recently involving a truck from Mexico. This is in the Brownsville-Matamoros area. The truck, carrying a chemical, overturned near an overpass, and the liquid chemical poured out of the opening in the top of the truck. The chemical drained into the Laguna Madre, killing thousands of fish and marine life, necessitating a ban on the consumption of fish, shrimp, and mollusks.
Since this is one of the fish and shrimp capitals of the world, both sport and commercial , the harm was immeasurable. The driver had all the proper inspection papers for the truck, all of which were false and forged. It is very easy to obtain false documentation here on the Border for practically anything. It is particularly popular to obtain false birth certificates for babies actually born in Mexico, but stating that they were born in the United States so that they may have the advantages of United States citizenship."
