NEW ZEALAND: The Brainpot
Yve Dara, a New Zealander, vouches for the existence of the "Brainpot" in Rotorua:"Contrary to Michael Bassett's opinion, there is (or rather was ) such a feature. In fact, in a recently published book on New Zealand (I forget the name but it's a nostalgic look at New Zealand from early days to the present in photos), there is a reproduction of a hand-colored postcard of about 1906 showing a small Maori boy crouched in a raised steaming hole, with the title "The Brainpot" at the bottom. This would seem to confirm its existence beyond doubt! No. don't worry; the boy is not being cooked! He appears to be only having a hot bath."
