Rugby

From New Zealand, Michael Bassett clarifies and confuses:
The All Blacks are NEW ZEALAND's national team, not Australia's, though it pains me as a New Zealander to have to own up to the fact after yesterday's walloping by the French! The Australians, better known in this part of the world as the Wallabies, meet France in the World Rugby Final this coming Sunday. The All Blacks play South Africa (the Springboks) to determine third place, this Friday.

My comment: Clearly the French TV commentator got her dates mixed up. My confusion comes from the term "wallabies," defined as "name for various small and medium-sized kangaroos, some about the size of a rabbit." Not my idea of an Australian rugby player.
