ISLAM in America

The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism, headed by Jon Kyl (R, Ariz), has begun a series of hearings. The first session featured WAISer Stephen Schwartz of the Institute for the Defense of Democracies and Alex Alexiev of the Center for Security Policy. Their testimony revealed a world about which most of us know little. The aim seems to be to smoke out the Saudi government, which is collaborating with the US but conniving with the Wahabis. These usually avoid using the label, which has negative connotations. The vast majority of American Muslims hate the Wahabis, who nevertheless control an estimated 80% of mosques in this country, which thus become hotbeds for terrorists. They receive 2.5 percent of the income of the faithful and additional funding through the Saudi bank system. The Wahabis have a huge printing operation in Medina which produces the Wahabi version of the Koran in various languages, including Hebrew and Russian. They are distributed around the world and given away free. The testimony included references to several Wahabi online sources which provide valuable information. The report on these hearings will be significant. I wonder if Stephen can arrange for a copy of the official transcript of his session to be sent to me.
