Rob Gaudet says: "Sufism is a good trend for those who want to have intercultural relations with the Muslim world. It focuses on mystical elements and experiences that are more likely to have common ground with other faiths than the traditional focus on doctrine. That's the main advantage of praxis (which is practice) rather than doctrine. Experience is something we share, especially when it comes to experience of the Transcendent".
My comment: In the West only scholars talked about sufism in the past. My impression is that some of these have advised the US Government to establish ties with sufi groups since they are not part of the militant Islamic groups and could serve as a link between the US and them.
