SPAIN: Deaths in the Civil War 08.02.03
Christopher Jones said: "I am at a loss when a scholar like John Heelan conveniently forgets the deaths of priests by summary execution in the beloved Spanish Second Republic".John replies "I am at a loss as to how Christopher comes to this opinion of me.
To put the record straight in Christopher's mind, I heartily condemn the abuses and deaths suffered by 4,184 priests, 2,365 monks, 12 bishops and 283 nuns at the hands of Republicans as much as I condemn the killing by the Falange and Nationalists of 5000 granadinos alone in the early days of the Civil War. (estimates from Hugh Thomas(1971) p.229)"
