Cult Figures, Deand and Alive
Stanley Payne compares the Fidel-Che cult with the Franco-Jose Antonio one:
"In one sense this is like early franquismo, with Franco alive and Jose Antonio dead, but the end of fascism weakened the Jose Antonio cult, whereas left revolutionism still lives."
My comment: Spaniards now avoid mentioning Franco and Jose Antonio, except for the Basque nationalists who denounce the Partido Popular as franquista.
On the other hand, Lenin's corpse, once due to be buried, is now being repaired. Heaven knows what will be the fate of the remains of Che and Castro. Shades of the bones of Eva Peron!
