Re: The US and Israel

Siegfried Ramler says: "When Christopher Jones says that a more even-handed US policy in the Middle East, particularly in relation to the Palestinian conflict, would have spared us the 9/11 disaster, he engages in classic "blame the victim" rhetoric. The attack and all the subsequent threats of terror and expressions of hatred spring from a deeply rooted animosity, not likely to be affected by any US policy changes anywhere in the world. I remind Christopher that the early pronouncements by Al Quaida prior to 9/11 were targeted at the presence of US troops in Saudi Arabia and not at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Furthermore, to suggest a direct link between deficiencies in our health and education budgets and foreign aid to one nation is simplistic and distorts reality".

The fact remains that Jews occupied honored positions in Arab countries until the creation of the state of Israel. I traveled in the area before and after its creation, and the change was obvious.
