Foreign service slang terms for world areas
Raśl Escalante of Mexico finds US State Department slang terms for the areas of the world very amusing:"The Mexican foreign service also has two main circuits: the Revlon circuit (Western Europe, the US, select Latin American cities [including, ironically, Havana], etc.) and the Baygón cicuit (Africa, most of Central America, some of East Asia, etc.). Baygón (by Bayer) was the leading brand of insecticide in Mexico for a very long time, credited with being a good roach killer. Sadly, my father has spent most of his career in the Baygón circuit. He likes to speak his mind, something politically appointed ambassadors rarely appreciate".
