Words of wisdom from Miles Seeley:
My views on gambling stem from the fact that I first went to Jackson Hole, WY when gambling was, if not legal, tolerated. When the state shut it down, there were dire predictions of doom for the town. In fact the opposite happened, and Jackson Hole took off as a resort and a ski area....too successfully for my taste. When I left it ten years ago it was overpriced and overbuilt, and employees had a hard time finding affordable housing. There is no doubt, though, that outside money that came from tourists was more "benign" than the gambling money. Addiction to gambling is more prevalent than the industry admits. And as difficult to treat and cure as alcohol or drug addiction.
