     Linda Nyquist works in the social aspects of medicine, so her opinion is worth hearing. She writes:
     I couldn't agree with your views on gambling more. Here in Washington, gaming is permitted on Indian land and the pro-gambling faction claims that "the money helps the tribes with education, health care, housing, etc." Who are they kidding? Fetal alcohol syndrome is at an all-time high on the reservations. Housing is a disaster, and few young people receive higher education. Social workers are challenged by the conditions, in spite of the "wealth" gambling brings. If gambling is such a terrific idea, why doesn't the state permit it everywhere?
