UNITED STATES: Eisenhower and the murder of Lumumba

Tim Brown regards the story that Eisenhower ordered the assassination of Lumumba as red, and now yellow journalism:

"This story has been around for a very long time, as have such allegations as: the US assassinated Dag Hammarskjold, AIDs was invented at Ft. Deitrick and deliberately planted by the CIA on black Africans as part of a racist American plot, and so forth. That is not to say categorically that this particular story cannot be true. Perhaps it is, but I agree entirely with Seeley. My own remembrance from my diplomatic days is that this particular anti-Eisenhower claim was a piece of KGB Cold War disinformation. I find it hard to believe that a Belgian journalist was able to uncover what the entire US press was not."
