US Presidential Contest and NATO
Tim Brown disputes Miles Seeley's statement: "From the data I've seen, Miles Seeley's high number in terms of the European involvement in the Balkans confuses tooth with tail. It fails to count dedicated US forces that are not actually on the ground in the Balkans but rather at air bases in Italy and elsewhere, or on naval vessels at sea. It's a number the Europeans love to flout because it emphasizes their role, and the current US administration prefers not to challenge because it wants to deemphasize the US presence own. The only problem with the 85% number is that it fails to take military reality into account."
