UNESCO AND THE US
This comes from Armand Reka of UNESCO in Paris: "I am sending you an excerpt of the address delivered by the First Lady of the United States at UNESCO. It is highly relevant to our Balkans History Project:"...UNESCO's second educational priority must be quality education - -education based in truth and tolerance. The more children learn about other countries, faiths and cultures, the more likely they are to respect other people. Education can help children see beyond a world of hate and hopelessness. UNESCO is doing wonderful work in this area. A history project in the Balkans seeks to overcome centuries of stereotypes and division..."
The US re-entry to UNESCO will take effect on Oct 1st, and the US Ambassador, Permanent Delegate will be H.E. Ms Louise Oliver. I think it's now the time to act".
