Hilton Withdraws from Presidential Race

     Among the many WAISers who are distressed by my withdrawal from the presidential race is Dwight Peterson, who writes:
     This is truly a sad day for Mugwump! Our venerable leader, Ronald Hilton, has withdrawn from the race for the Presidency of the United States. Here is a man who trumpeted that spirited debate about the Eagle and the Turkey. Now he talks of the Roosters Vs. Mockingbirds, with the Geese waiting in the wings to take on the victor. He even alludes to Hoover's Lame Duck!! We must praise this man for his vision. He talks of climbing back into his barrel. Whether it be pork, whiskey, or beer barrel polka we followers should stand firmly together and support Competitive Gardening!! A confused supporter.


     Correction: I am afraid Dwight missed two classical allusions. The geese are the electors, who are like those of ancient Rome who squawked to warn against dangers. I am distressed that Dwight thought I was diving into a pork, whiskey or beer barrel. I am fighting pork barrels, and I drink only reasonable quantities of red wine. The reference was to Diogenes, looking for an honest politician. I make this correction just to clear my reputation.
