WAIS: The Unsung Heroes

Many WAISers are world-famous, but WAIS depends on the help of people who live out of the limelight. There are board members like Jaqui White, to name only one. Then there are the Technical Associates, such as the TV producer Bill Van Orsdol, without whom the WAIS interviews would be impossible.. Above all, there is the small host of computer advisers led by Chris Lundin (I refrain from naming them for fear of omitting some) as well as Dan Wilhelmi of Hoover.. Now WAIS has a new Technical Associate, Steve Jones of the Law School..My old computer owes its life to him. I was about the commit what the French call a passion crime, which always gets the jury's sympathy. It consists of murdering your beloved who has betrayed you. I was about to murder my computer when Steve intervened.

Ah, the problems of keeping WAIS going! The last oneobably arose because I read an attachment which probably contained a virus. So please, don't send attachments; include them in the text. Sometimes. the attachments are in a computer language not installed on my machine. Then there are the typos, especially of odd names like the Mexico City night club Momohombo. I am always grateful when you call my attention to such typos. Sometimes these typos conceal a hidden truth. I meant to type Law School, but came out as Jaw School, a perfectly apt name. Fortunately I caught it in time. Otherwise I would have received a jawing from Law School friends.
