WAIS and WAISdom
Our postings go out to two different groups. The first is the large, passive one of those who use the web. The real WAISers are those, connected by the e-mail network, who can participate in our discussions. Membership in this group is by invitation, and we seek variety in viewpoint, nationality, age, and profession. WAIS is those a cross-section of educated and concerned citizens. Above all, they listen to others with interest and respect. Again let me commend Eric Boehm, from whom and his wife Inge I have received this message:
Every good wish to you and Mary for Christmas and the New Year, above all good health and that includes continued mental alertness. Our ecumenical Boehm family-- Jewish, Lutheran and Catholic -- (all good for our souls) celebrates both Chanukah and Christmas and who knows in some future generation Kwanza (sp?) and ???. Tomorrow I go to mass with my deeply committed Catholic visiting friend from Mexico.
My response: Pax vobiscum. Somewhat like Diogenes, I seek people who are responsible and caring (the old word charitable sounds charitable, and love is ambiguous); unlike Diogenes, I have found them in people of all faiths.Ronald Hilton - 11/28/99
