WAISdom and its Wisdom, Continued
Many messages have been received supporting the above posting. John Wonder writes:
"Good for you, and I hope you keep it up. I was most disturbed by the action of some officialdom or another to require a baseball player to undergo psychiatric evaluation for some non-PC remarks he made. This really smacks of Arthur Koesler. I find, quite frankly, the political atmosphere of the US quite oppressive. I have a colleague, who has spent quite a bit of time in Spain, and with whom I agree that we sometimes feel less free to express a political or social opinion about something or other than we did under the Franco dictatorship; the parameters were clearly defined. Here one never knows; it is what some idiot activist group takes a notion to pursue. It seems to me that Ortega y Gasset clearly understood this in 'La Rebelión de las masas'."
My comment: Members of minorities should be careful not to alienate their friends. People who have helped minorities and have felt deeply attached to them will be deeply hurt if they are called "racist" or "anti-Semitic." The minorities may lose a friend.Ronald Hilton - 1/15/00
