Independence Day 2002: The bald eagle and the turkey
At Taunton's College we started the day with a religious service at which, among the hymns we sang, was the one by a Transcendentalist American (I've forgotten who) which proclaimed that "They are slaves that would not be In the right with two or three". In other words, the majority can be wrong. That goes for the vast majority of pro-eagle, anti-turkey WAISers. Now I am not the sole member of the pro-turkey group. Rob Gaudet writes: "Ben Franklin thought that the bald eagle was an immoral animal because, among other things, it ate dead carrion that it stole from other animals rather than doing the hard work on its own".
