Michael Basset, who lives in New Zealand, wished me a Merry Christmas. Recalling the heated argument as to who saw the millennium first (New Zealand, according to Michael), I replied:

"Michael: Same to you! Am I right in believing that you will start Christmas before I do? Before Bethlehem does? I must consult a theologian. Ronald. " He replied: "Yes, we do. It's all a bit like that question that was put to William Jennings Bryan during the Scopes Trial in 1925: Darrow: "So the world was created in 4004 BC? What date? Bryan: Christmas day (or some such). Darrow: What time of day? Bryan: Midday. Darrow: Eastern Standard time, or Rocky Mountain time? " I shall have to go back to my theologians. This is worse than the Florida election.
