War with Iraq: a French interpretation

From France, Christopher Jones writes: "The French Nouvelle Droite has an interesting theory about the American war with Iraq. According to an article posted at the GRECE website, they feel as many others that the war was about oil but with a little more explanation.

According to GRECE, the Americans want to bring the price of oil down to about 15 dollars a barrel by flooding the market with Iraqi oil. This will cause a steep drop in revenues for the mischievous and cash strapped Saudi and Iranian regimes, breaking their support for terrorism. But it will also serve to put pressure on Putin's Russia, hopefully delaying any rearmament programs.

On a related subject, I have often wondered what was the real reason behind FPO (Freedom Party) boss Jorg Haider's visits to Saddam and Muammar al Quaddafi. Anti-semitism just doesn't make any real sense to me -- there had to be something more tangible behind these highly publicized visits. I wonder if the Americans have found anything about this".
