IRAQ WAR and military technology

The world press if full of charges that the Bush administration is controlled by corporations which are now demanding their part of the Iraq spoils. During the war, the US administration regularly boasted about new precision weapons, which the Pentagon seemed eager to try out. Suspicion of the military industrial complex against which Eisenhower warned is widespread. Today I learned of the existence of Boeing Integrated Defense Systems at Berkley, Missouri. The management invited President Bush to go there. He got literally a roaring reception. The scene was broadcast on TV. The management was brilliantly successful in putting the plant on the map. It was good publicity also for Bush. At the same time, it was clearly the military-industrial complex at work. Boeing has suffered serious reverses recently. The Iraq war has clearly enhanced its position.
