War on Iraq

Tim Ashby sends me an article by Charles Pena, Director of Defense Policy Studies at the Cato Institute: "The Cato Institute is a Libertarian organization and Pena is certainly no leftist. Pena reflects the views of many conservatives and libertarians (including myself) who question the justification for a war against Iraq and fear that it will open a Pandora's Box of global terrorism". The article is titled "Case for war still misses the point". For the full text, see
www.cato.org. Here is an eztract:

"Secretary of State Colin Powell's presentation to the U.N. Security Council wasn't anything that hasn't been said before. To be sure, he provided more detailed information in the form of photographs and intercepted radio conversations. But this was simply more evidence affirming what we already know: that Iraq has chemical and biological weapons and continues to pursue development of nuclear weapons. But the issue of whether Iraq has weapons of mass destruction misses the more important question relative to U.S. security. If mere possession of WMD is the criterion for preemptive U.S. action, then Iraq should not be the only target".
