WAIS welcomes Utkan Demirci, whose sends this bio: Utkan Demirci received his B.S. degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Electrical Engineering in 1999 as a James B. Angell Scholar from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He received his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2001, M.S. degree in Management Science and Engineering in 2005 and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2005, all from Stanford University. He is one of the few recipients of the Full Presidential Scholarship given by the Turkish Ministry of Education. He is a corecipient of the 2002 Outstanding Paper Award of the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control Society. He is the winner of Stanford University Entrepreneur’s Challenge Competition and Singapore Global Start-up Competition in 2004 . He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi. He is a member of the IEEE. He is currently involved with post-graduate work at Harvard Medical School. He is interested in serving human beings and becoming a better person. His research interests involve MEMS (Micro-Electromechanical Systems), especially, micromachined ultrasonic microfluid droplet ejector arrays for high resolution printing and biological applications, capacitive micromachined ultrasonic arrays (CMUTS) for medical imaging applications, and 2D acoustic ordered crystals.
