WAISers: Linda Nyquist in Mexico

I said that Linda Nyquist has an unusual  knowledge of the Mexican countryside, not just of the Mexican cities.  She confirms this: The death and disease I witnessed first hand was heartbreaking. I am still brought to tears when I think of the lives I personally witnessed lost for no reason except the lack of clean water, simple but adequate food, vaccines, and other relatively common interventions which we take as a matter of course. I myself fell victim to brucellosis, dengue, amoebic dysentary, typhoid, hepatitis, TB, roundworm, hookworm, salmonella, shigella, giardia and was finally so weakened that I had to be carried out by the villagers to Huatla de Jimenez and airlifted to Puebla. I very nearly lost my life. After several months in the hospital in Mexico City, I regained my strength and returned to the village. My goal then, as now, is simply the desire for a better and healthier life for those living in these areas.
