Re: China as a military power
Daryl DeBell writes: I doubt that there is a better example of the narcissistically based idiocy of national leaders than that of the Taiwanese and Chinese ones over the 'sovereignty' of Taiwan. Taiwan obviously acts as it pleases; is sovereign in every practical sense. Why on earth does it need to provoke the equally irrational and narcissistic 'pride' of the Chinese leaders by flaunting its independence in their faces? It is a perfect example, a demonstration, of my contention that war is a product of the pathological narcissism of leaders. Our, the US', threat to butt in is an equally misguided effort to show how powerful we are, the threat implicit in fleet maneuvers being a gross example. Over what?- the meaningless posturing of silly men half a world away, with no issue of consequence whatever.
